As industries across the world struggled hard to cope with the economic slowdown, the plastic and polymer processing sector in Saurashtra grew at an unprecedented rate over the last couple of years. And it is agriculture that has been a driving force for this industry.
Increasing use of plastic equipment and tools instead of cement-based products has led to mushrooming of units across the Saurashtra region. As many as 300 new units have come up in the last two years, taking the total number to 1,250.
While Shapar-Veraval and Metoda have been hubs of plastic industry for over two decades, new clusters have come up in Morbi (Rajkot district). Last financial year, the industry registered a turnover of Rs 8,000 crore, 15 per cent more than the previous year.
Saurashtra Plastic Manufactures Association president Pravin Gothi said: “Thanks to farmers, who are turning to new methods of agriculture, the sector has recorded a considerable growth. Agriculture has been a major driving force for this industry. Of the 15 per cent growth registered, agriculture sector accounts for 7 per cent.”

મોરબીનું નામ પડતાં જ સિરામિક ઇન્ડસ્ટ્રીઝ જ યાદ આવે પણ તાજેતરમાં સિરામિક ઇન્ડસ્ટ્રીના જ કારણે નવી મિલ્સ સ્થપાતાં મોરબી
પેપર મિલનું પણ હબ બનવા જઈ રહ્યું છે. સિરામિક ઇન્ડસ્ટ્રીઝમાં પેકેજિંગના કારણે પેપરની માંગ વધતાં હાલમાં આઠ મિલો સ્થપાઈ રહી છે અને આગામી એક વર્ષમાં મોરબીમાં વધુ પેપર મિલ આવી રહી છે. હાલમાં જે પેપરનું ઉત્પાદન થાય છે તે પણ અઢી ગણું થવાનો અંદાજ છે. આમ મોરબી આગામી દિવસોમાં સૌરાષ્ટ્રનું એકમાત્ર પેપર હબ તરીકે ઊભરી આવશે.
ગુજરાતમાં હાલમાં એકમાત્ર વાપીમાં જ મોટા પાયે પેપર ઉદ્યોગ વિકસ્યો છે. મોરબીમાં સિરામિક ઇન્ડસ્ટ્રીઝમાં ટાઇલ્સના પેકેજિંગમાં કોરૂગેટેડ અને ડુપ્લેક્સ પેપરની માંગ વધી રહી છે. મોરબીની અગ્રણી પેપર મિલ તીર્થક પેપર મિલના માલિક કિરીટભાઈ પટેલે ઇટીને જણાવ્યું હતું કે આજથી 11 વર્ષ પહેલાં મોરબીમાં એકમાત્ર પેપર મિલ હતી , જેમાં પ્રતિ દિન 20 ટન કાગળનું ઉત્પાદન થતું હતું. છેલ્લાં ત્રણેક વર્ષમાં સ્થપાયેલી આઠ મિલમાં આધુનિક મશીનોથી પ્રતિ દિન 600 ટન પેપરનું ઉત્પાદન થાય છે. મોરબીની પેપર મિલના અગ્રણીએ જણાવ્યું હતું કે 600 ટનની પ્રતિ દિન ક્ષમતામાં બીજી 800 ટનની ક્ષમતા ઉમેરતાં આગામી એક વર્ષમાં કુલ ઉત્પાદન ક્ષમતા 1,500 ટન થશે.
મોરબીની સિરામિક ઇન્ડસ્ટ્રીઝમાં પેપરની ડિમાન્ડને કારણે એન્જિનિયરિંગ ઉદ્યોગને પણ ઓર્ડર મળી રહ્યા છે. અમદાવાદની જેએમસી એન્જિનિયરિંગ કંપનીના ચેરમેન રજનીભાઈ પટેલે ઇટીને જણાવ્યું હતું કે વધુ ક્ષમતા ધરાવતી વિદેશી મશીનરીની માંગ હતી , હવે એ તમામ ઓટોમાઇઝેશન ભારતીય એન્જિનિયરિંગ કંપનીઓ આપી રહી છે. ભારતીય પેપર મિલ મશીનરીની માગ વિદેશમાં પણ વધી છે.
તેમાંય અમેરિકા તથા અન્ય દેશોમાં પોતાનું નેટવર્ક ધરાવતી અમારી કંપનીને મોરબીમાં નવા ઓર્ડર મળી રહ્યા છે , જેના કારણે પેપર મિલની હાલની સંખ્યામાં ધરખમ વધારો થાય તેમ છે. કિરીટભાઈએ કહ્યું હતું કે કંડલા પોર્ટ નજીકમાં જ હોવાથી અમે કાચો માલ આયાત કરીને અમારી કામગીરી કરી શકીએ તેમ છીએ. આનાથી પોર્ટ સેક્ટરનો વિકાસ થશે.
આ ઉપરાંત ઉત્તર ભારતની મિલો ઇન્ડિયન વેસ્ટ પર જ નભે છે. તેવા સંજોગોમાં વિદેશથી કાચો માલ મંગાવીને પેપર બનાવવો કિફાયતી છે. સિરામિક ટાઇલ્સમાં આકર્ષક પેકેજિંગના કારણે પેપરની ડિમાન્ડ તો રહે જ છે. આમ પેપરની માંગને કારણે પેપર મિલ બનાવતી એન્જિનિયરિંગ કંપનીઓને પણ ફાયદો થઈ રહ્યો છે.

Jaihind Projects wins Rs 480 mn orders

Jaihind Projects, a global engineering construction projects company has bagged two orders worth Rs 480 million from Gujarat State Petronet.
The first order is worth Rs 260.5 million for the construction contract for Morbi Mundra Spurline project (Ajanta, Electrotherm, Mid India, GPT Steel and GSPC Gas`s CNG stations etc).
The other order includes engineering and construction of GSFC – Sikka connectivity (Jamnagar) project worth Rs 219.1 million.
Shares of the company gained Rs 2.45, or 1.45%, to settle at Rs 171.65. The total volume of shares traded was 73,395 at the BSE (Thursday).

Decolight Ceramics bagged order worth Rs 1.72 crore

Decolight Ceramics Limited, a leading manufacturer engaged in Ceramic Tiles business in Morbi region and also engaged in Wind Power Generation activities, has bagged purchase order worth Rs 1.72 crore from M/s Hiya Overseas Pvt Ltd. for vitrified unglazed Smooth & Mirror Polish Ceramics Tiles.
A strong, customer oriented and qualitative approach by the company has resulted into bagging such order. The company is also expecting more positive response from overseas based customers including repeat order for its ceramic range of products which demonstrates the growing faith reposed by the customers on the company’s products.
